Giovanna "Jennie" Caparrotti, 97, a longtime resident of Dobbs Ferry passed away on March 8, 2017 after a brief illness. Born in Torre di Ruggiero, Catanzaro, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Francesco and Marianna Yozzo. In 1937, Jennie married her sweetheart Eugenio in Italy. After her children were born she returned to Dobbs Ferry in 1953 with her family following the next year. In 1986, she retired from St. Cabrini Nursing Home and then worked at Burlington Coat Factory for 20 years. Jennie was known for her love of life, family and friends. She was an excellent cook, especially known for her meatballs. Jennie was an avid gardener and took pride in her tomato garden. She always was ready to give out them to her many friends. Jennie was a member of the Daughters of Italy and the Association of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Toronto, Canada. She was also a parishioner of Our Lady of Pompeii Church for many years.
Jennie is survived by her daughters Marie Lockwood, Francesca (Del) LeFevre and Antonia Reynaud, daughter-in-law Diana Caparrotti, 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Eugenio in 1981, by her son Joseph in 2008 and by her brother Anthony in 2013.
